Shepherd's Pie

Another meal that is super easy to put together that you can freeze for later is Shepherd's Pie.

You will take 1lb of ground beef, turkey, chicken or whatever you choose.

While you are frying up the meat you need to start your potatoes to make the mashed potatoes for the top of the dish.

After you have browned the ground meat you need to add 1 can of Cream of Mushroom soup and put it on the bottom of your pan.  Then you need to add frozen corn on top of that mixture (can also use green beans).

You then make your mashed potatoes and spread them on top of the corn. (To make mashed potatoes, boil cut up potatoes in water until tender.  Mix with a blender.  There is no need to use butter or milk due to these being on top of this casserole.)

The last step is to add 1/2 and 8 oz bag of cheese across the top of the potatoes.

Cook in the oven at 350 for 20-30 min until the cheese is melted.

(If you choose to freeze this for later you can wrap the top in tin foil and then when you are ready to eat this dish, thaw overnight and then cook at 350 for 20-30min.)

Cost Breakdown:

1 lb ground beef: $3.33 (from whole beef this is average cost for all meat cuts)

1/2 Bag (8oz) bag of Cheese: $.94

Total Cost of Meal:
